Area girls: Elle Burland helps East Valley handle Cheney on the road

Elle Burland had 16 points to lead visiting East Valley (5-2, 3-0) past Cheney (4-2, 1-1) 54-42 in Great Northern League action on Friday.

Faith Adams added 12 points for East Valley.

Cheney cut its deficit to a single point in the third quarter, but were ultimately undone by 19 turnovers.

Kristie McGourin led Cheney with nine points and 11 rebounds.

West Valley 62, Pullman 19: Kim Koppenstein scored 11 points to lead the Eagles (3-4, 1-2) over the visiting Greyhounds (1-6, 0-2).

West Valley led 31-8 at intermission and went 11 of 15 from the free throw line.

Northeast A

Medical Lake 48, Deer Park 31: After a slow start, Lexi Redell and and the Cardinals (4-2, 3-0) spent the middle quarters opening a double-digit lead and beat the visiting Stags (3-3, 2-1).

Redell led all scorers with 13 points, while Elli Pierce led Deer Park with 11.

Colville 56, Riverside 45: Hayden Hartman had 17 points as the visiting Indians (3-3, 2-1) shook off a slow first half to beat the Rams (2-5, 0-3).

Colville used a 17-7 third-quarter run to erase a 10-point halftime deficit.

Olivia Willis had 16 points for Riverside, which suffered 32 turnovers.

Chewelah 55, Newport 33: Maggie Cobb scored 15 points and the visiting Cougars (2-3, 1-2) beat the Grizzlies (2-4, 1-2).

Chewelah used a 20-5 fourth quarter to salt away a close game to that point. Krislyn Koler and Krystan Miller added 11 points apiece for Chewelah.

Newport was led by Jocelin Nenema with 15 points.

Northeast 2B

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 46, Tekoa-Rosalia 39: Peyton Curtis scored 10 of her 18 points at the line and the visiting Broncos (4-2, 2-2) outlasted the Timberwolves (1-4, 0-3).

LRS held Tekoa to just 24 percent shooting. Tatiana Mendoza led T-R with 13 points.

St. George’s 69, Springdale 9: Hailey Higashi scored 16 points and the Dragons (6-0, 4-0) forced 41 turnovers and had four players in double figures in a rout of the visiting Chargers (1-5, 0-4).

Abby Jones had 13 points, Shayla Melendez added 12 and Lydia Bergquist scored eight points, five rebounds and 10 steals for St. George’s.

Wilbur-Creston 51, Northwest Christian 47: Karlee Maioho scored 24 points and the Wildcats (2-3, 2-2) edged the visiting Crusaders (1-3, 1-3).

Wilbur-Creston led 26-20 at intermission and it ended up being enough of a lead despite being outscored by a surging Northwest Christian in the second half.

NWC was led by Quin Dhaenens and Natalie Smith with 11 points apiece.

Colfax 57, Reardan 36: Piper Cai scored 19 points, Carmen Gfeller added 15 and the visiting Bulldogs (3-2, 3-0) beat the Indians (1-2, 1-2).

Lizzy Williams led Reardan with 15 points, hitting 6 of 7 from the line, and nine rebounds.

Liberty 66, Asotin 30: Christine Denny scored 21 points and the visiting Lancers (5-0, 3-0) defeated the Panthers (2-2, 0-2).

Liberty piled on 37 points in the first quarter and was able to hold on to the sizable lead for the rest of the game. Maisie Burnham scored 12 points and Aleena Cook added 13 for Liberty.

Asotin was led by Kylan Hernandez with 12 points.

Davenport 60, Kettle Falls 36: Sydney Abbott scored 15 points and the visiting Gorillas (7-0, 4-0) defeated the Bulldogs (3-3, 1-3).

Madison Abbott and Sydney Zieler added 12 points apiece for Davenport while Lainy Jacobsen chipped in 11.

Kettle Falls was led by Kennedy McKern with 11 points.

Northeast 1B

Wellpinit 49, Columbia 33: Jada Orr scored 14 points and Christina Carden had 10 to lead the visiting Redskins (2-1, 1-1) over the Lions (0-6, 0-3).

Gabreanna Singer scored 15 points for Columbia.

Selkirk 46, Curlew 30 : Gabi Rick scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help the Rangers (6-1, 3-1) defeat the visiting Panthers (4-3, 2-2).

Selkirk ran out to a 31-14 lead at the half. Jenna Couch scored 10 points and Whitney Dawson grabbed 12 rebounds for Selkirk.

Korin Baker led Curlew with 12 points.

Republic 55, Inchelium 34: Shania Graham scored 19 points, Lily Beckwith added 15, and the visiting Tigers (7-0, 4-0) swatted the Hornets (3-2, 2-2).

After a slow start, Inchelium and Jaylene Lelone (11 points) cut its deficit to single digits during the third quarter.

Republic responded with a 13-4 fourth quarter to put the game away.

Cusick 47, Northport 45: Gracie StrangeOwl led the Panthers (1-4, 1-3) in scoring with 16 points and scored the game-winning points in a comeback victory over the visiting Mustangs (0-8, 0-5).

Cusick erased a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter and with 0.5 seconds left, StrangeOwl sank two free throws to seal the win.

Ashtyn Baribault led all scorers with 21 points for Northport.

Cusick’s Nicole Spensgar scored 10 of her 13 points in the fourth quarter.

Valley Christian 45, Odessa-Harrington 20: Phoebe Trigsted led all scorers with 15 points and Veronica Alexyenko added 13 to help the visiting Panthers (4-3, 4-1) defeat the Titans (0-3, 0-2).

Maddie Wagner had seven points, five rebounds and two steals for Odessa-Harrington.

Southeast 1B

Colton 79, Garfield-Palouse 19: Jordyn Moerhle had 18 points with eight rebounds to lead five in double figures for the visiting Wildcats (5-0, 2-0) as they defeated the Vikings (0-3, 0-2).

Colton forced 24 turnovers while committing only five. Abby Kelly had 13 points, Kendyl Druffel added 11 and Meghan Dvorak had 10.

Oakesdale 59, St. John-Endicott 19: Jacey Johnson had 13 points, 10 boards, and four assists to help the Nighthawks (4-2, 2-0) blow past the visiting Eagles (0-4, 0-1).

Oakesdale led 20-5 after the first quarter. Logan Reed scored 14 points, Emma Perry had 13, and Madison Shrope added 10.

Pomeroy 53, Waitsburg 12: The Pirates (1-1, 1-1) topped the visiting Cardinals (0-1, 0-1).

Idaho

Coeur d’Alene 61, Moscow 48: Kelly Horning scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help the visiting Vikings (3-4) defeat the Bears (2-5).

Coeur d’Alene used a 21-13 fourth-quarter run to escape with the win. Taryn Horvath scored 16 points and Kayla Fagan added 11.

Moscow was led by Gracey Meyer with 29 points. Meyer went 13 of 15 from the line.

Sandpoint 46, Bonners Ferry 23: Grace Kirscher scored 20 points, Trinity Golder added 10 and the visiting Bulldogs (4-6) defeated the Badgers (3-3).

Bonners Ferry was led by Miranda Wenk with 11 points.

Lake City 48, Boise 39: Lauren Rewers scored 13 points and the Timberwolves (8-2) defeated visiting Boise (9-1).

Keara Simpson added 10 points for Lake City. Bridget Rieken and Nina Carlson both recorded five assists.

Boise was led by Madi Williams with 10 points.
