Spokane County Jail officer found pot under an inmate’s mattress, records say
Spokane County Jail authorities say they found six marijuana joints in a plastic bag under an inmate’s mattress Tuesday.
A corrections officer found the contraband while searching the cell of Michael L. Summa, who has been incarcerated on a stolen-vehicle charge since Nov. 29, according to court and jail records.
Summa, 27, was convicted of manslaughter for fatally stabbing a man in 2008. And in September, he was found with gunshot wounds outside a home in the West Central Neighborhood that neighbors say is a hotbed of gang activity.
Court documents say Summa was the cell’s only occupant when the joints appeared.
Summa faces a charge of drug possession in a correctional facility, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
