Minors, Durfey, Proctor cash in at NFR
LAS VEGAS – Ellensburg team ropers Riley and Brady Minor took first place in the fourth round at the National Finals Rodeo on Sunday night.
The Minors won with a time of 4.40 seconds to collect $26,230.77. They are fourth in average and second in the world rankings through four rounds.
The average is the cumulative time or points earned during the 10 rounds. The world rankings are determined by who finished the year with the most money, including what is won at the National Finals Rodeo. At the end of the 10 rounds, champions will be determined for both average and rankings.
Tyson Durfey, a longtime resident of Colbert now living in Missouri, tied for second in tie-down roping with a time of 7.70 to win $18,192.31. He is second in average and seventh in the rankings.
Bull rider Shane Proctor, a native of Grand Coulee, Washington, took fourth with a score of 75.50 to win $11,000. He is first in average and third in the rankings.
Cheney barrel racer Pam Capper finished out of the money Sunday. She is 10th in the rankings and fourth in average.
Sundance, of the Flying 5 rodeo company based outside of Ritzville, was the saddle bronc Ryder Wright rode to victory on Sunday with a score of 85.50.
The rodeo runs through Dec. 10 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
