Fresh Sheet: Allie’s opening new location

Mandi Luce

Allie’s Vegan Pizzeria and Café plans to open on the South Hill in mid-September. Renovation has already started on the new location at 1314 S. Grand Blvd., Suite 6.

“My hope is that we will be well-received at this site and when the Nevada location is ready I will be able to keep both spots and better meet the needs of our market,” owner Atania Gilmore said.

The original eatery at 4803 N. Nevada St. isn’t expected to reopen until the end of the year. It was damaged by fire June 5.

“Community response was overwhelming,” Gilmore said, noting a customer started a crowdfunding campaign and raised about $5,000.

Initial estimates put damage at $30,000. But Gilmore said lost inventory totals more than $15,000 and structural damage as well as damage to furnishings and equipment exceeds $300,000. She and one of her chefs suffered smoke inhalation. Gilmore also sustained second-degree burns.
