Agency director leaving

The head of Results Washington, a state agency that collects data and measures whether other agencies are doing their jobs efficiently, is stepping down.

Wendy Korthuis-Smith, who has been director since the agency was started by Gov. Jay Inslee in 2013, was hired by a national consulting firm. The agency tracks state data and works with other agencies on a range of issues like employment, high school graduation rates and homelessness.

Rich Roesler, the agency’s engagement manager, was named interim director while a national search is conducted. Roesler is the former Olympia bureau chief for The Spokesman-Review who was a public affairs project manager in the state Insurance Commissioner office before joining Results Washington.
