NEWCOMB, Betty Lou
(Age 86)

She was born February 2, 1930 to Rome and Minnie Jones in Perry, Arkansas.

And she died Thursday April 21, 2016.
She spent her school years in Arkansas and California.

She came to Spokane, Washington in May of 1946 from San Francisco California.

She returned to Arkansas and married her high school sweetheart.

They moved back to Spokane, Washington in 1950.
She worked for Sears for eleven years and was the manager of the fashion department.

Then she and her husband bought a grocery store at Napa and Mission and named it, “George’s Thrift Store”.

Later they also had a supermarket in Sandpoint, Idaho with the same name.
In 1986 she moved back to Fresno, California and worked for Glendale Federal bank as a senior customer service officer until she retired nine years later.
She then returned to Spokane, Washington to a home she had there.

Because she had worked all her life, she took a fun job as a hostess at Arby’s and loved every minute.

She enjoyed being with people.
Her oldest son, Dennis Wayne, preceded her in death.

Three sisters, Midge Adams and Dorothy Schempre of Fresno, CA, and Barbara House of Jackson, Mississippi survive her.

Numerous nephews and nieces; two wonderful sons and their wives: Terry and Carol Newcomb, and Dana and Debbie Newcomb; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive her.

She felt she was a very fortunate person to have the family and good friends that she had.
Viewing will be held at Heritage Funeral Home April 25 and 26 from 10:00 to 5:00.

Graveside Service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace on April 27, at 11:00 AM.
