Gene passed away at the age of 88 on April 3, 2016 in Spokane, WA.
He was born in Spokane, on May 10, 1927.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1943 and was stationed in San Diego where he played an important role in the development of sonar technology.
He married Marian Archambault on February 4, 1946.
They lived in Bellingham and Aberdeen, WA with their children while Gene worked as a manager for Sears.
They moved to Spokane in 1965.
Gene was a co-founder of Interpacific Investors Services, Inc..
He was the Spokane Branch Manager and served as President in the 1980s splitting his time between their Seattle and Spokane offices.
Gene loved music and taught himself to play the saxophone, banjo and piano.
He and Marian enjoyed gathering friends and family in their home to have weekend jam sessions and play cards, especially bridge.
He was an avid sports fan of all things Mariners, Seahawks or Zags.
He will be remembered for his hard work ethic, generosity, sense of humor and love for family and friends.
A special thank-you to his daughter, Carol, who cared for him the last several years which enabled him to live at home where he was comfortable and happy.
Thank you to the staff at Avalon Care Center Northpointe who cared for Dad the last few months of his life.
Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Marian, and daughter, Jan.
He is survived by his son John Coil of Spokane; daughters: Linda (George) Hushman of Coeur d’Alene, ID; Patty Coil of Tekoa, WA; Carol Coil of Spokane; Kathleen (Dave) Haberl of Stanwood, WA; and Mary (Jeff) Cooper of Spokane; five grandchildren: Doug Hassenpflug, Sarah Dunn, Eric Cooper, Bryan Cooper and Joseph Haberl and nine great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption Parish, 3624 W. Indian Trail Rd., Spokane, WA., 99208 with a reception to follow.
