PATTERSON, Joan Marie
Joan Marie Patterson passed away March 30 2016 at the age of 82.
She was a resident of Spokane, Washington for 43 years and just recently lived in Mint Hill, NC with her daughter.
Joan was born in Los Angeles, California, on September 9, 1933, the daughter of Robert Burke Heuer and Marguerite Grace Dowdall.
She grew up in Los Angeles, graduated from high school and went on to Mount Saint Mary’s College, and attained a degree in teaching.
On September 21, 1957, she married Robert Warren Patterson.
She and Robert were blessed with five children whom Joan cared for at home as her full time profession.
In 1971, they moved to Spokane, Washington.
Joan worked in Child Protective Services for the State of Washington.
She retired in 1987 and she and Robert focused on being grandparents and great-grandparents.
She was a member of the St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church of Spokane.
She was involved with Boy Scouts and was a den mother when her sons were in Scouts.
Her favorite things were her kids, family dinners, her dog Amigo, shopping, and making people laugh.
She had the most gentle way about her and yet a sharp and witty sense of humor.
She was one of a kind and we will deeply miss her.
