Obituary: Burrington, Bruce Ellison

Age 91


BURRINGTON, Bruce Ellison
(Age 90)

Bruce Burrington was born April 18, 1925 in Grand Meadow, Minnesota.

He went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2016 in Monroe, Washington.

Bruce was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church in the Spokane Valley, and for the last two years, Peace Lutheran Church in Monroe.

He was the youngest of three boys born to Rodney and Zella Burrington of Grand Meadow, Minnesota.

He served in the Navy in WWII in the V12 program, and then attended college, graduating from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1951.

He met his wife of 62 years, Ardis, at the University of Minnesota and after another tour with the Air Force during the Korean War, they settled in the Spokane Valley where he opened his dental practice and they raised their family.

Bruce enjoyed cards of any kind, frequently referring to the “Grand Meadow Pool Hall Rules” of any particular card game.

He was very fond of playing bridge, and loved playing golf.

He was very proud of his two “Hole-in-One” trophies and they were on display until he passed away.

He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, holding many offices.

He also served on the boards of Camp Lutherhaven and Holden Village.

He was a man of deep faith, and spoke often of the grace of the Lord.



Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Spencer Burrington and Rodney Burrington, and his beloved wife, Ardis.

He leaves behind his children: Jill Burrington-Brown (Keith) of Snohomish, WA, Scott Burrington of Spokane, Joel Burrington (Kindle) of Seattle, and Mona Rafn (Christian) of Jar, Norway.

He also leaves four grandchildren: Laura Wyman (Scott) of Kirkland, Gabrielle Brown of Snohomish, and Alex and Nathan Burrington of Spokane, as well as a great-granddaughter, Kiralyn Wyman.

A memorial service will be held on April 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm, at Peace Lutheran Church, 202 Dickinson Rd, Monroe, WA 98272.
