Obituary: Boudewyns, Ellen Ruth

Age 91

BOUDEWYNS, Ellen Ruth Ellen passed away after a long illness September 24, 2015.

She was born January 24, 1924 in Hamilton, Montana to Axel and Charlotte Anderson, sister of Arnold Anderson and Mel Boice.

She graduated high school in Hamilton and then from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Spokane in 1945.

She was the devoted wife of Lester Boudewyns Sr. who preceded her in death in 2006.

Married for over 60 years, she and Les had two children, Lester Jr. of Spokane Valley and Carole Vosmer of Happy Valley, Oregon.

Ellen is also survived by one nephew, Jim Anderson of Everett, WA; three beloved grandchildren, Jamie Boudewyns (Cathlyn); Tim Boudewyns of South Vienna, Ohio; and Cory Evans (Dan) of Portland, OR; and four great-grandchildren and special friend, Susan Boudewyns.

Ellen helped Les run The Payless Market in Spokane Valley until she returned to Deaconess Hospital in the early 70’s as a registered nurse.

Highly respected, she worked there until her retirement in 1985.

Ellen, a kind and caring person, was an avid golfer and belonged to the Liberty Lake and Esmerelda Women’s Groups.

She loved watching Gonzaga Basketball and the Mariners with her friends and family.

Always an optimist, she kept her sense of humor despite much pain until the end of life.

Ellen was greatly loved and will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Union Gospel Mission or Spokane Humane Society.

A Memorial Service is planned for her October 3rd at Guardian Angel Homes, 23102 E. Mission, Liberty Lake, WA at 2:00 pm.
