Obituary: Thomas, Lila Jean (Forbes, Broesch)

THOMAS, Lila Jean (Forbes, Broesch) Lila Jean (Forbes, Broesch) Thomas peacefully passed away May 31, 2014 in Houston, Texas at the age of 82.

She was born in Assumption, Illinois to Dorothy (Forbes) Cromwell.

Her step-father was Emmett Cromwell.

She was especially fond of her Uncle Jeffrey Cromwell.

Lila lived in the Spokane area the majority of her adult life and was employed by Safeway.

Retiring from management in 1995, she enjoyed her free time in Nine Mile Falls, WA, with her husband, Clifford E. Thomas.

They moved to Prescott, Arizona in 2000, then Tucson, Arizona in 2006 and then Cypress, Texas in 2009.

Lila will now return back home for her eternal rest.

Lila was extremely talented in sewing, arts and crafts, oil and water color painting, and was an exceptional cook and baker.

She enjoyed gardening, classical music, reading, big holiday dinners, decorating for each Holiday, shopping, Christmas and the Victorian era.

Most of all she loved her family and will be forever greatly missed.

Lila Jean Forbes married Aaron L. Broesch in 1951 and they had two children, Aaron Jeffrey “Jeff” Broesch and Angela Janine Broesch (Johnston).

Jeff and Angela would remain their only two children throughout their lifetime with the welcome addition of Anthony T. “Tony” Huber, grandson, Liezel Horn Huber, granddaughter and Joshua Jacob Huber, great-grandson.

Lila was preceded in death by her loving son, Aaron Jeffrey “Jeff” Broesch (1973), husband Gerald F. Newton (1972), husband Clifford E. Thomas (2006), three sisters (Peggy, Bobbi and Dora), and one brother (Tom).

Lila is remembered and loved by many nieces and nephews, their children and devoted friends and was known as “Grandma” by everyone throughout the community.

A public Graveside Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Virtus Young, will be held at Riverside Memorial Park on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.
