Obituary: Newton, Phyllis Jean
She left to be with The Lord on October 4, 2015.
She is survived by her sister in law, Betty Mary Newton and took on the role of grandmother to Brian, Allan and Michael Johnson.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Christine, and her brother Douglas Newton.
Phyllis graduated from Whitworth College with a BA in Health and a Master’s in Education.
She taught P.E.
for 30 years, mostly at North Pines Jr. High.
There she met her best friend of 55 years, Barbara Cornehl.
Phyllis enjoyed many outdoor activities.
She was very creative and artistic.
She was a selfless person and dedicated her life to The Lord and his word.
Phyllis touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Phyllis was a member of the Spokane Dream Center Church, 2128 North Pines Rd., where her Memorial will be held on October 23, 2015 at 1 p.m. alongside her will be Barbara Cornehl, who passed six days later.
