Obituary: Pomeroy, Stewart Allen

POMEROY, Stewart Allen Stewart Allen Pomeroy was born on April 26, 1920 to Clarence and Gladys (Stewart) Pomeroy in Spring Ranch, Nebraska.

He had three sisters, Betty, Kathryn and Gladys Ann, and one brother Thomas.

He grew up in Nebraska and graduated high school in Fairfield in 1939.

He served our country in the Army Air Corps from 1941 - 1945, mostly at Turner Field in Albany, Georgia.

On September 7, 1943 he married the love of his life, Artie Rose Shaw.

In 1945 they moved back to Clay County, Nebraska and began farming.

Their three children, Mary Linda, Dale and Connie soon followed.

In 1959 they moved to Othello, WA and farmed there until retirement.

In Othello Stewart served on farming organization boards such as the Adams County Weed Board and the Soil Conservation District.

Stewart was also very active in the churches he attended.

He was a Sunday school teacher, an elder and also a lay minister, often preaching on Sunday mornings in Nebraska and for a time in Othello as well.

Stewart and Artie moved to Hearthstone Inn, a retirement home in Moses Lake, Washington in 2006.

His wife Artie passed away that April and in 2011 Stewart moved to Park Place Assisted Living in Spokane Valley, WA.

Stewart died on November 22, 2015 in Spokane Valley, WA.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Artie Rose (Shaw) Pomeroy, his parents, Clarence and Gladys (Stewart) Pomeroy, his sisters, Betty Hill, Kathryn Bokovoy and Gladys Ann West, his granddaughter Michelle (Pomeroy) Escamilla and his son-in-law William Stout.

He is survived by his children, Mary Linda Stout, Dale (and Lanita) Pomeroy and Connie (and Doug) Schmidt; his brother Thomas; seven grandchildren and numerous step-grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids as well as nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 27 from 10am to 12:30pm at Spokane Cremation & Funeral Service, 2832 N. Ruby St. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 28 at 11am at Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene.
