Obituary: Jarrett, Jerry Ray

Age 60

JARRETT, Jerry Ray March 30, 1955- November 6, 2015 Beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend, Jerry Ray Jarrett, age 60 years, left behind his battle with cancer to join his Savior.

He is preceded in death by his precious wife, Sherrie; his mother Violet Jarrett; his father Ray Jarrett; and his half-brother George.

Jerry is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Jane and Richard Smith; his son and daughter-in-law Jeremy and Alani Jarrett; his daughter Toni Kyle and stepdaughter Dawn Hepburn.

Jerry was an especially active grandfather to his two grandsons, Braden and Noah.

He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jerry, a lifetime resident of Deer Park, was a super fan of the Seattle Seahawks since 1976, and of Gonzaga basketball.

He wore his team shirts and hats with zealous pride everywhere he went, and erected a flag pole in a prominent place in his lawn in order to fly his 12th man flag and an American flag, honoring the team and the country he loved.

Jerry had an enormous heart and compassionate spirit for animals and for people in need.

Despite times of impoverishment in his own life, he always found a way to feed the wild or stray animals that wandered onto his land, and he unselfishly gave of his resources, his time and his talents to his family, to those in need, and to those less fortunate than himself.

He found his church and his God in the nature that he loved so much.

Camping, hiking, fishing, berry picking, mushroom hunting… all the joys of life in the wilderness were his hymns of praise to the Creator.

Time with his children, his grandsons, his sister and his friends were the highlight of his life, and he unwittingly taught us the most important lessons of life, as he lived simply and peacefully a life of honesty, integrity, and service.

He was a great lover of music, and indeed, his life might be summed up in the words of a song, by his favorite musicians “The Beatles”… “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make…” You will be missed, dearest one…Jerry’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the kindness and compassion shown to Jerry and his family by Horizon Hospice and the Spokane VA Hospital and Hospice unit.

You are truly angels of mercy.

God bless you for your servants’ hearts.

A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11am, at Moran United Methodist Church, 3601 E. 65th Ave., Spokane, WA.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Union Gospel Mission of Spokane.

Those attending the service are encouraged to wear their Seahawks and Gonzaga team wear in honor of Jerry’s life…
