Obituary: Swanson, Everett L.
The youngest of four children, he was the son of Clarence Alvery and Gertrude Elizabeth Swanson (Thorn).
He passed away in Spokane on November 7, 2015 at the age of 88.
Master Sergeant Swanson was a 29-year Veteran of the United States Army, enlisting at the end of World War II.
He proudly served his country during the wars in Korea and Vietnam and in multiple world-wide assignments including Japan, France and Libya.
While serving in Japan, he married Masae Iizuka on September 29, 1954.
After his retirement from the Army, he worked for Old National Bank as a manager of the bankcard center.
Everett was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, watching every game that was televised.
He enjoyed basketball, crosswords, reading and donating to many charities.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Corinne Leindecker and Vivian Schultz and his brother Russell.
He is survived by his wife, Masae; three daughters, Amy McCorkell, Patty Bruce of Spokane, and Nancy Vasilas (Cris) of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandchildren: Steven, Calvin, Alexandera and William, and great-grandchildren: Jamie and Daniel.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Everett’s life will be held Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11:00AM at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home.
