Obituary: Slater, Donald George
Age 92
He was born January 6, 1923 in Spokane, WA to George and Katherine (Buck) Slater and lived in the Spokane area for most of his life.
He graduated from high school in Wilbur, WA and loved working on the area farms.
He met his wife, Ila Jean (Sue) Dieringer there and they were married on March 6, 1943.
Don enlisted in the Army and served in WWII until 1945.
He worked many years for Clark Equipment Company.
He loved to go hunting and take his Airstream on the road to many different places.
He served as President of the Wally Byam Airstream Caravan Club for many years.
He is survived by his companion, Norma Echelbarger; children, Cathy and Wendell Adams, Christine Slater, Ron and Brenda Waggoner; nine grandchildren, Wendy, Jennie, Todd, Jeff, Mike, Sandy, Brook, Jack, and Daniel; 24 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, “Sue” of 58 years, infant son Donald George Slater, Jr., and daughter Linda Waggoner.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 1:00PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 21022 E. Wellesley Ave., Otis Orchards, WA with burial to follow at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.
