Obituary: Rude, Carl T.
Age 83
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax.
Carl was born on December 13, 1931 in Rolette, North Dakota.
He grew up in a large Norwegian family on a small family farm.
Carl spent two years in the United States Army after high school and was trained as an aircraft mechanic.
He served honorably towards the end of the Korean Conflict and was discharged in November of 1954.
On September 2, 1956, Carl married Mildred Miriam “Millie” Crum.
They were married nearly 52 years before she passed away in 2008.
Carl and Millie lived in California until 1958 and then moved back home to North Dakota where he owned and operated Rugby Flying Service.
In 1966 they moved the family to Renton, Washington where Carl worked as an automotive mechanic for the telephone company until his retirement.
In the fall of 2008, Carl moved to Colfax where he met Janetta (Gardner) Van Doren and they were married on April 24, 2010.
Carl is survived by his wife Janetta of Spokane; daughters Tarri Steiger of Dusty, Toni Davies of Renton and Traci Mercer of Orting; sons Ted Rude of Bellingham, Thor Rude of Puyallup and Bill Noble of Wasilla, Alaska.
He is also survived by Janetta’s children, Betty Urhausen, Joanne Hanson, Pete Van Doren, Paul Van Doren and Tim Van Doren as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Millie, his parents and Janetta’s son Jim Van Doren.
