That’s News to you answers

Here are the answers to this week’s quiz:

1. E. Thomas Daly, 54, succeeds Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich, who left Spokane last fall to lead the nation’s third-largest diocese. Daly comes to Spokane from San Jose, where he serves as auxiliary bishop in the nation’s 10th-largest diocese. He was born in San Francisco and was ordained as a priest in 1987. He will spend the next two months completing his obligations in San Jose. His installation in Spokane is set for May 20 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes.

2. C. The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed the plane that crashed in downtown Spokane last month was filled with jet fuel before taking off. The plane was a single-engine Piper Malibu Mirage, a model sold with a piston-powered engine that runs on aviation gas, according to the manufacturer’s website. Pilot Michael Clements crashed Feb. 22 north of East Sprague Avenue at North Erie Street, near the Hamilton Street bridge over the Spokane River. He died from his injuries Feb. 24 at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.

3. D. Powdered alcohol is intended to be mixed into drinks. Palcohol would come in a pouch, with water being added to the powder inside for the equivalent of an alcoholic drink.

4. D. Center Max Unger, a respected teammate and the Seahawks’ best offensive lineman, was sent to New Orleans in the deal. The Seahawks gave up Unger and their first-round pick in the upcoming draft to receive Graham and a fourth-round pick.

5. D. “Blurred Lines,” the biggest hit song of 2013, earned Thicke and Williams more than $7 million apiece, according to court testimony. Gaye’s children – Nona, Frankie and Marvin Gaye III – sued the two singers in 2013. Their lawyer, Richard Busch, branded Williams and Thicke liars, who went beyond trying to emulate the sound of Gaye’s late-1970s music and copied the R&B legend’s hit “Got to Give It Up” outright.
