Obituary: Del Rosario, Marlon

DEL ROSARIO, Marlon (Age 56) Marlon Del Rosario, passed away unexpectedly on March 11, 2015 at his home.

At 56 years of age, it is way too soon.

Marlon was born in Manila, Phillipines and came to the United States with his family when he was ten.

All of us who knew Marlon found it easy to love him.

Why?

Because he loved us first.

In his love was a tremendous gift of service.

He gave, deeply, of himself in his tremendous desire to help others.

He delighted in volunteering at UGM Christmas dinner and fund-raising events, an obvious service to others.

But he was sensitive to the simple, unseen acts of service to many.

Marlon was injured in a work related incident and unable to work for several years.

Eventually he returned to the work force as an associate at Wal-Mart in the valley.

To work again was important to Marlon.

But this proved to be much more than a job.

There he found a second family that embraced him as one of their own, as we all did.

Marlon was preceded in death by his father, Candalario del Rosario; and brothers Ronald and Jeff del Rosario.

Marlon is survived by wife Roxanne; daughter Brittany; mother Carmelita; brothers Jerry (Shelly), Bernard (Kandace), Rich; sister Karyn Jones (Vince); and three step-children: Shannon O’Keefe (JP), Robby Whitcomb (Crystal) and Shelby Whitcomb.

Marlon was blessed with his first grandchild, Madeline J. Whitcomb, and was looking forward to the birth of his second grandchild, Makenzie Raine O’Keefe in August; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he loved deeply.

Failing to include Marlon’s loyal friend and companion, his boxer Bailee, would leave out such a huge part of his life.

She was faithful to him until the very end.

We rejoice for having Marlon in our lives.

His passing leaves an aching void that can never be filled.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 17th, at 12:30 pm in the event center of Riverhouse At The Trails apartment complex, 16621 E. Indiana Ave, Spokane Valley.
