Obituary: Sims, Mary Lou

Age 70

SIMS, Mary Lou (Age 69) Was born on May 12, 1945 in Kalkaska, Michigan.

She passed away peacefully on February 24, 2015 in Spokane, Washington.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 40 years, Joe M. Sims; her son, Joey D. Sims; her parents, Newton and Bernetta Adkins; and brothers Rex, Millard and Leo.

She grew up in Priest River, Idaho and lived with Joe and their children in Greenacres, Washington.

Mary Lou found joy in the everyday activities of daily life; she loved to be out and about!

Whether it was going for car rides or running errands, she enjoyed going places and staying busy.

Her many hobbies included playing cards with friends, making crafts, crocheting, playing bingo, going out to dinner and having fun gambling at the casino.

She loved to travel near and far.

Special trips included visiting Banff National Park in Canada and a wonderful vacation to Hawaii in January with her daughter and son-in-law.

It was a special time for all of them that was spent enjoying the amazing beauty of the ocean, sunny days and sandy beaches.

She adored her family.

Mary Lou was very supportive of her children and encouraged their individuality.

They participated in many activities together including camping, fishing, hunting and watching wildlife.

Wonderful memories were made just by spending time together.

She doted on her dogs and loved to have flowers around her.

Over the years, many happy days were spent at Priest Lake with special friends and family sunbathing on the beach.

She treasured time visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her sister and nieces.

Mary Lou was a beautiful woman; a kind, loving, special person who was adored by all who knew her.

She was full of life and love; her heart was joyful and she loved to laugh; she was genuine, thoughtful, and wished good things for everyone.

She served as an example of someone who was thankful for all of her blessings.

Mary Lou is survived by her best friend and devoted daughter, Debby Sims-Boosalis and her supportive and loving son-in-law, Robin Boosalis; grandchildren Joey R. Sims and Ashley A. Sims; great-grandchildren River and Esra Sims; sister Evelyn Hagreen; brother Victor Adkins; and brother Milford Adkins.

A memorial service will be held at 10am on March 7 at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 North Pines Road.

A graveside service is to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 17825 E. Trent Avenue.

A celebration of her life will be held from 12-2pm at the Elks Lodge, 2605 North Robie Road, Spokane Valley, Washington.
