Flea Market - Benefits a group who will be traveling in September from Spokane to a small rural village in Kenya to build a classroom at an orphanage and offer medical care and supplies. Art on the Green Festival - July 31-Aug. 2. 47th annual celebration transforming the NIC campus into an outdoor art gallery and marketplace with hundreds of artists. There will be food, live music on two stages, hands-on art activities for children and more. Hours are Friday, noon-7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Parking and shuttle bus service to the west side of the NIC campus from downtown is also available during the festival. The Lavender Festivals - Attendees can cut and take home a bouquet of fresh lavender, watch and try the art of lavender wand making, and learn how to properly dry this beautiful herb. Lavender wands will also be on sale. Presented by Hennessey Funeral Homes and Crematories as a benefit for the Tears Foundation, providing funds to assist with the cost of burial or cremation services for families who have lost a baby. C. Colston Burrell Lecture - The Inland Empire Gardeners will host C. Colston Burrell, a garden designer, lecturer, author and photographer. Coeur d’Alene Garden Tour 2015 - The tour will feature six gardens, all diverse with ideas to take home. Live music and artisan vendors will be stationed throughout the gardens with garden-related items for sale, including the Collector’s Garden Poster. This is a self-guided tour, guests can begin and end as they wish. Maps are included on the tickets. Proceeds of the tour benefit local charities and NIC Dual Enrollment Scholarships. Tree School - An educational conference for arborists, foresters, forest landowners and backyard gardeners. This year the theme is “Wildfire: Yesterday and Today” with keynote presentations by Jack Nisbet and Mary Verner. There will also be 20 different seminars, each participant can attend five classes of their choosing. Several classes are available for continuing education credits for Washington Pesticide licensing, International Society of Arboriculture, and Society of American Foresters. North Idaho Fair and Rodeo - Aug. 26-30. This year’s theme is “Dive Right In!” The fair offers family fun and entertainment, with live music, carnival rides and games, food vendors, arts and crafts, livestock, contests and community exhibits. Come Feed the Buffalo - Through Sept. 30. Come feed the buffalo and take a tour at Win-Tur Bison Farm. Visitors learn the farm’s history and bison facts during a slide presentation and Q&A session, as well as the opportunity to meet and greet the herd and hand-feed the buffalo.
