In 1937 Sister came to the USA at the age of 17 along with 21 other sisters.

Leaving her country, her parents and family was a great sacrifice, but also an adventure into a new frontier to spread the gospel.

Due to the war, Sister did not return to Germany until 1947.

She was so grateful to find her parents and family alive.

In 1943 she became an American citizen.

She celebrated 75 years in religious life in 2014.

She also graduated from Sacred Heart Hospital in Medical Technology in 1946.

Hospitals were her primary area of ministry.

She served at St. Mary’s Hospital and Pondera Hospital in Conrad, Montana as a registered nurse, medical technologist and as hospital administrator.

She served in these same capacities at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chewelah.

From 1962 until 1970 she was the Provincial Superior of the Dominican Sisters.

Prior to her retirement she worked in the St. Joseph’s purchasing department and then in the Pastoral Care Department.

Sister Alberta always had a heart and concern for the poor and disadvantaged.

She would gather clothing and other items to send to poor Indian Missions as well as others in need.

She was always generous and unselfish and will be missed by her Dominican Sisters and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by all her Dominican German Sisters who began coming to the United States in the early 1920’s to minister and serve God’s people in Montana and then in Washington where a Motherhouse was established near Kettle Falls, WA.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and a brother.
