Obituary: Dyer, Kimberly Ann “Kim”
Age 62
She was a Spokane girl who came to Kent with me and learned to love the misty rains of the Pacific Northwest.
Kim was born in Missoula, MT on April 7, 1953 and was raised for most of her life in Spokane Washington.
She enjoyed the mountains as well as the ocean and soon became a big fan of the great fresh seafood we could get here on “the coast”.
Her favorite was red salmon and Dungeness crab although I’ve seen her put away more than one bucket of steamer clams or lightly breaded pan fried yearling oysters in one sitting.
She never turned down lobster tail, although that really doesn’t count as “Pacific Northwest” seafood.
While living in Spokane she learned to ski and really enjoyed the time we spent on the mountain.
I think she really enjoyed shopping for new outfits for skiing more than the skiing itself, although she never really would admit that.
Shopping was her “thing”.
She could go for hours and still be looking for “what she missed”, she just wore me out.
Kim worked in banking for 20 years, starting in Spokane ending in Seattle.
She determined after that long, that banking was not her thing so she worked at various places for a while and then decided to “retire” and wait for me to do the same.
With the restoration of our 1965 Mustang complete and the first shake down road-trip behind us she was really looking forward to getting into the car show season.
Meeting new people was always one of the things she enjoyed doing and the car shows gave ample opportunity to do just that.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nina Holmes; her sister Kathy Kopp; her nephew Roger Dougherty and her brother-in-law Phil Dyer.
Though related to Phil only by marriage, she thought of and treated him like her younger brother.
She is survived by her husband Alan Dyer; niece Andrea and husband Justin Wells their daughter Stacia Wells.
