Obituary: Iseman, Mimi

ISEMAN, Mimi January 1, 1931 - June 8, 2015 Mimi Iseman passed away on Monday, June 8th, 2015 at age 84 following a seven week battle with digestive cancer.

She was the first child born on New Year’s Day in Aroostook County in 1931.

She was the third oldest of five children to Belonie and Alice Hebert.

Mimi was of Acadian decent; her first language was French and she was raised in Madawaska, Maine; the northernmost town in New England.

Growing up she had fond memories of spending summers at Baker Brook Lake in New Brunswick, Canada and working as a lifeguard and phone operator.

Mimi graduated from Madawaska High School and then attended nursing school in Holton, Maine, Boston, Hartford, and Providence.

She moved to Presque, Maine where she met 1st Lt. Billy Iseman.

They were married on October 24th, 1959 at the Presque Air Force Base Chapel.

They lived a military life style where Billy’s work moved them to Georgia, Pennsylvania, Germany, Missouri, Illinois and England until their final stop in Spokane, Washington where Billy retired from Fairchild Air Force Base.

Mimi greatly enjoyed the military life; she especially loved England, antiquing, and traveling in Europe.

With her social and fun-loving attitude she made many life-long friends from all over the world.

She spent her free time bowling, golfing, and playing bridge with the other military wives.

Then in 1995, the family built a vacation house at Deer Lake.

For the past 20 years Mimi had spent as much time as possible at the lake swimming socializing, and playing her favorite game of dominos, Chicken Leg.

Deer Lake was her heaven on earth.

She had a unique ability to make friends with everyone she met.

They in turn loved to visit with her.

Mimi is survived by her husband, Billy; sons, Stephen and Michael; daughter, Karen; daughter-in-law, Sara; beloved sister, Lorraine and brother, Ernest; seven grandchildren: Stephen, Jarred, Courtney, Alex, Tyler, Nicolette, and Kaley, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Mass will held Saturday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Mimi will be whole-heartedly missed by her many friends and family
