Obituary: Hansen, Margaret

Age 87

HANSEN, Margaret (Age 87) Margaret Hansen entered Jesus’ arms singing on the 3rd of July 2015 after a valiant fight with cancer at the age of 87.

Margaret was born on December 5, 1927 in Tigard, OR and was involved in music through- out high school and college.

She graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Home Economics.

She met her husband, Jim Hansen, at Oregon State and his work took them to Washington, Minnesota, Colorado, and then to Tustin, California where they were very active in church life at Trinity United Presbyterian Church.

Wanting to retire in Washington, Jim took his last transfer to Spokane where they have lived since 1981.

Margaret’s hobbies included playing guitar, singing, quilting, and family.

She loved her time with her small group at Shadle Park Presbyterian.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jim Hansen, her four children and their spouses: Dave (Debbie) Hansen, Mary (Bruce) Becker, Tom (Kathy) Hansen, Martha (Dave) Orvis; 11 grandchildren and their spouses; and 12 great-grandchildren.

God gave Margaret the gift of loving and caring for others and while Margaret only had four children, she had many sons and daughters who she loved as her own.

Margaret was known for her deep faith, her generous and unfailing love, her joy of music, and her compassion for others.

Margaret’s deep desire was for people to know and understand how they might be made new and transformed in Christ as written in Romans 12 in the New Testament.

A memorial service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 8th at 11am at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church at 5508 N. Alberta.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Shadle Park Presbyterian Church Mission Fund.
