Obituary: Wood, Donald Scott

Age 85

WOOD, Donald Scott Donald Scott Wood was born in Lewiston, Maine on May 14, 1929.

Son of the late Ernest and Grace Wood of Lewiston, Maine, he passed away January 24, 2015 after a recent illness.

He grew up in Lewiston, Maine and attended Lewiston High School.

At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Air Force and served proudly for 20 years.

When he was based at Fairchild Air Force Base, he met the love of his life Dody (Dorothy) and they married in 1958.

He retired from the Air Force in 1966 in California and settled in Spokane to work for Savage Wholesale Building Materials for 20 years transferring to Beaverton, OR in 1973 followed by a job change to Pabco Roofing Products until his retirement in 1992.

Don is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 56 years; and by their two children: Julie (Kevin) Brick, Michael Wood; and granddaughter Emily Brick.

He will also be missed by his brothers Clifton Wood, Jim Wood and sister, Frances Briddon and many nieces and nephews that will truly miss Don.

Don and Dody retired to Lake Coeur d’Alene for 15 years until moving back to Spokane in 2008 to be close to his daughter Julie and the love of his life Emily, his only granddaughter.

Don and Dody moved into Rockwood Lane Community.

He was loved by everyone.

He was the best husband, father and grandfather anyone could ever have!

His quiet, gentle soul will be truly missed.

A service to honor Don will take place at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery on Friday, January 30th at 11:15 am.

A Celebration of Life will be held following the Inurnment at Rockwood Retirement Community (221 E. Rockwood Blvd.).
