Obituary: Durham, Joanne And James

DURHAM, JoAnne and James JoAnne L. Durham Passed away August 22, 2013.

She was born September 25, 1933 in Spokane, WA to Sadie and Fred Tirk, and attended Lewis & Clark High School.

JoAnne loved to cook and cooked for several Spokane Restaurants.

James H. Durham Passed away December 31, 2014.

He was born February 28, 1930 in McRay, Arkansas to Fraida and Parks W. Durham.

Jim was stationed at Fairchild AFB when he and JoAnne met.

They married on May 22, 1953.

Jim was employed in sales during his working career.

Jim and JoAnne started one of the first Alzheimer Adult Homes in Spokane called Rare Care from the early 1980’s until their retirement in 1995 where their patients received excellent care.

JoAnne was one of the first Board members, from 1980 to 1987, of the original Greater Spokane Chapter of Alzheimer Assoc., which later became the Inland NW Chapter Alzheimer Assoc.

JoAnne also volunteered in many other aspects of the association.

Jim volunteered at the Central Valley Scope for many years and JoAnne provided homemade goodies for the volunteers.

Jim and JoAnne were preceded in death by their parents, sisters and a son, James H. Durham, Jr.

They are survived by a daughter, Linda Sue Durham of CA; grandchildren, great-grand- children, nephews and cousins.

A memorial for will be held for Jim and JoAnne at a later date.
