Age 87

ROGERS, James O.

(Age 87) Entered into eternal rest: January 17, 2015 in Spokane, Washington Born in Manhatten, Illinois on September 7, 1927.

Eldest of eight children: Mike, Cassell, Jean, D’ella, Judy, Richard and Dorothy.

Preceded in death by his parents: James C. and Flora H. Rogers, wife: Carolyn Wallace Rogers, sons: Gerard A. Rogers and Stephen P. Rogers, and friend: Lydia Gowler.

Survived by his children: James (Patricia) Rogers, Robert Rogers, Katherine (Rob) Sharp, daughter-in-law Terry Rogers, Shawn (Cindy) Rogers, Elise (John) Shmoorkoff, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Jim retired after proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy for 30 years on August 1, 1973.

He served at the end of World War II and in Korea.

After retirement, Jim and family resided in Chalmette, Louisiana.

He visited the United States and Canada extensively by car.

He was a great planner - figuring his trip ahead of time and having destinations and hotels planned.

He was incredible with packing a car and always used AAA Travel Tiks.

Jim was one of the kindest, gentlest men you could ever meet.

He was blessed with good common sense and always gave great advice.

His children will always remember his unconditional love.

He will be greatly missed!

Vigil will be held on Thursday, January 22, 10:00 AM at Hennessey’s Rose Chapel.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM (same place, same date).

Inurnment will be at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery at a later time.
