Area boys: Liberty runs winning streak to 10

Match Burnham scored 12 of his game-high 36 points in the third quarter and Liberty pulled away after halftime and beat host Northwest Christian 65-52 in a Northeast 2B League game Tuesday night.

The win was the Lancers’ 10th straight. Their only loss of the season came by two points at home against Medical Lake on Dec. 17.

Clay Fleming added 13 points and Chase Burnham chipped in 10 for Liberty (15-1, 10-0), which led by a point at halftime, then outscored the Crusaders (10-5, 7-3) 36-24 in the second half.

Northwest Christian’s Asher Cox tallied a team-high 19 points and Ryan Ricks scored 13. This was the only regular-season matchup between the two schools.

Great Northern

Clarkston 62, Pullman 50: Trevor Sperry led four players in double figures with 15 points and the Bantams (15-1, 6-1) responded after Saturday’s loss to West Valley with a win over the visiting Greyhounds (11-3, 4-2). Pullman’s Micah Lagerquist tallied a game-high 17 points.

West Valley 52, Cheney 40: Martin Herford hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and finished with 21 points in the Eagles’ (10-4, 4-2) win over the host Blackhawks (4-11, 0-7). Cheney’s Nicholas Hohrmon scored 12 points.

Northeast A

Riverside 55, Deer Park 42: Tyler Axtell made 10 of 11 free throws and scored 18 points to guide the Rams (13-1, 8-0) past the host Stags (5-9, 3-5). Deer Park’s Daniel Paulson had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Nate Guske added 10 points and nine boards.

Medical Lake 67, Freeman 52: Donte Brown and Tellas Johnson scored 14 points apiece and the Cardinals (8-4, 5-2) opened the game on a 19-8 run and defeated the visiting Scotties (6-6, 4-3). Freeman’s Jake Phipps led all scorers with 16 points.

Lakeside 69, Chewelah 19: Spencer Reynolds scored 24 points and Ryan Quigly added 19 as the Eagles (12-2, 7-1) overwhelmed the host Cougars (1-13, 0-8).

Newport 64, Colville 48: John Lyon scored 18 points and Ty McDaniels added 14 points and 13 rebounds as the Grizzlies (8-6, 3-5) topped the visiting Indians (1-12, 1-7). Colville’s Chase Sandaine tallied a team-high 16 points.

Northeast 1B North

Inchelium 70, Cusick 68: Quentin Holford had 19 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals as the Hornets (2-9, 2-5) snapped a nine-game skid with an upset over the visiting Panthers (9-6, 4-3). Alec Bluff scored 20 points and Cameron Bauer added 18 for Cusick, which rallied in the final two quarters but couldn’t overcome a 10-point halftime deficit.

North Star

Lakeside 73, Clark Fork 47: Jordan Nilson had 20 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four steals and the Knights (7-6, 4-0) routed the Wampus Cats in Plummer. Hunter Kolar added 19 points for Lakeside. Clark Fork’s Geoffry Boudousquie and Brandan Bowen combined for 26 points.

Nonleague

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 69, Connell 62: Kyle Canaday and Trevor Jantz hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to help the Broncos (10-5) get past the Eagles in Ritzville. Cort Ruzicka led LRS with 17 points, Jacob Saetre added 11 and Jantz and Dylan Becker each chipped in 10.

Kettle Falls 60, Northport 45: The Bulldogs (1-14) used a 27-8 fourth-quarter run to get past the visiting Mustangs (7-7). Cole Wren led Kettle Falls with 27 points and 12 rebounds and Daniel Truque added 14 points and eight rebounds.
