Obituary: Trapp, Orville E.
Age 77
He was born September 24, 1937, in Spokane, Wash-ington, to Marvin and Eleanor Trapp.
He spent all of his childhood in Spokane, attending Grant School and graduating from Lewis and Clark High School.
During his high school years, he became very involved in music, playing his string bass with the school orchestra and band, as well as various jazz and dance bands.
Orv was a member of the Spokane Symphony.
After moving to Seattle, he attended the University of Washington where he received his BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering.
He married his high school sweetheart, Jane “Janey” Smith, with whom he celebrated over 53 years of marriage.
Orv joined the General Electric Company at Hanford and San Jose, California, eventually returning to Washington with WPPSS and Kaiser Engineers.
At the time of his retirement, Orv was an engineering consultant with ASME, The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, traveling and working in 50 countries.
Orv remained active in local symphonies wherever he worked.
He was a runner for many years and became a marathoner and fun run participant in several states.
Orv will always be remembered as a deeply caring husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janey, at home; sons, Mark Trapp of Bainbridge Island, and John Trapp (Carrie) of Poulsbo; daughter, Anne Shaw (Jacee) of Olympia; brothers, Vincent (Barbara) of Spokane, and Steve of Olympia.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Aaron and Kelsey Trapp, Josh Lower, Sarah and Kyle Trapp, and Saffron and Samarra Shaw.
