Agree with Otter, Bible

Regarding “Idaho, Otter should heed tide changes on gay rights” (Jan. 8.): This editorial writer obviously doesn’t understand the reasons for the position Gov. Butch Otter, and many other Idahoans, have taken with respect to the issue of gay marriage. And probably never will. This is not about gay rights, which involves many issues. It is about gay marriage only.

Otter was recently re-elected by a majority vote for a third term and does clearly represent a majority of Idaho residents. The majority of residents of Idaho believe strongly in the value of the family unit, the arrangement of a marriage between a man and a woman, and any children who will result from this union.

Gay marriage does not fit this definition. There can be no biological children. The human race would ultimately cease to exist in about 100 years if gay marriage was the norm.

But even more important to Christians is that gay marriage is in violation of biblical teachings. It is indisputable that biblical teaching states that marriage is only between a man and a woman, bride and groom.

In the eyes of the Lord and a Christian, God’s rules never change, and they have been clear on this issue for many thousands of years.
