Announced Florida State DT Eddie Goldman will forgo his senior season and enter the 2015 NFL draft. The 6-foot-4, 320-pounder was named Associated Press third-team All American in 2014. He finished the season with 35 tackles, eight tackles for loss and a team-high four sacks.
• Oregon DL Arik Armstead declared his eligibility for the NFL draft. The 6-8, 290-pound junior started all 13 games this season for the Ducks, and was second on the team with 5 1/2 tackles for loss.
• Southern California WR George Farmer decided to skip his senior season to enter the NFL draft. Farmer made little impact in four seasons with the Trojans, catching 30 passes for 363 yards and four touchdowns.
• Kentucky junior RB Braylon Heard is passing up his final season of eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Heard rushed for 366 yards and four touchdowns in his only season with the Wildcats after transferring from Nebraska, where he ran for 452 yards and a TD on 77 attempts in the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
Hired Eastern Washington hired Camille Mosely as interim cross country and distance coach. Mosely (formerly Gibb) was a standout for Eastern in the distance events during the 2003-08 seasons.
• LSU hired former Southern California interim head coach Ed Orgeron as the Tigers’ new defensive line coach. The hiring of Orgeron, a Louisiana native known to have strong recruiting ties around his talent-rich state, comes a day after head coach Les Miles announced that Alabama assistant Kevin Steele would join LSU as defensive coordinator.
• Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said Ed Warinner has been promoted to offensive coordinator and Tim Beck, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Nebraska the past four years, has joined the staff as co-offensive coordinator/ quarterbacks coach.
Extended Air Force football coach Troy Calhoun agreed to a new five-year contract that runs through 2019. Calhoun is 59-44 in eight seasons at the academy with seven bowl appearances.
Signed The Philadelphia Union signed MLS all-star Maurice Edu to a multiyear contract. The Union did not disclose the terms of the deal. Named TCU football coach Gary Patterson was rewarded for helping the Horned Frogs to an impressive turnaround this season by winning the Paul “Bear” Bryant College Coach of the Year. Patterson led the Horned Frogs to a 12-1 record a year after they went 4-8.
