Obituary: Robideaux, Reubie Regina (Mckenna)

Age 91

ROBIDEAUX, Reubie Regina (McKenna) Whew, finally, I made it.

Glory to God.

Yes, I left this world Sunday, January 11th, for a great reunion with my “ever lovin” Bill, my three precious angels, Ellen, Corrine and William, my parents, Cyril and Reubie McKenna (Salisbury), to whom I was born on August 6, 1923.

My siblings joined us; Ed, George, Kenneth, Merlin (Pinky), Ray, and Mac Mckenna and sisters; Nell French, Alice Malone and Mary Warner, and my dear daughter-in-law Toni Marie Robideaux.

Life was good to me for more than 91 years and I wouldn’t have traded my time with friends and relatives for anything.

Except for that one time of course, there’s always one, am I right on that?

Lewis & Clark High School is where I graduated, met and eventually married my husband, William C. Robideaux on New Year’s Eve 1945.

We celebrated life together for 43 years until Bill’s death in 1988.

In the mid 90s the travel bug bit me, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Israel and Jordan were checked off my bucket list and provided me with so many wonderful memories, like the time my daughter Susan and I rode camels in the middle east.

If you were to ask what I’m most known for, beyond my beautiful family and sharp wit, it would be my knitting and ever-present camera.

I took more pictures than google earth and produced many beautiful afghans, scarves and pot holders than you can imagine.

My greatest creations were my children who survive me.

John (Lorrie), Susan Emry (Bud), Steven, James (Erin), Joseph and Anthony; grandchildren, Angela (Shane) Sanders, Christopher Robideaux (Sonia), Andrew (Stephanie) Robideaux, Nicole (Matt) Davidson, William Emry, Jonathan Robideaux (Kim), Rachael Robideaux, Devon Robideaux, Jacob Robideaux, Katie Robideaux, and Charlie Robideaux.

And the greats: Megan Sanders, Danika, Alexis and Ella Davidson and Jordan and Sarah Robideaux.

I’ll miss my sister-in-law, dear friend and pen pal, Betty Rhodes in Sequim, her son Dennis (Annie) and my other sister-in-law, Mac’s wife, June.

And many wonderful and dear nieces and nephews.

Many thanks to Dr. Dean Cranney and his staff for their assurance that I would be kept in working order.

And finally, only because they came around as the lights were slowly dimming, the angels from Hospice of Spokane, who worked with my tireless and loving daughter, Susan, who made the end of my life worth living.

We made many journeys together, but this one dear Susan, is a one-way ride.

Be joyful, God Bless and may the Lord be with you all.

Services will be held at Hennessey Funeral Home on Saturday, January 17th at 4pm in the Rose Chapel.

There will be a viewing from 2 - 4 prior to services with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery on the following Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, I ask that you consider contributions to organizations near to my heart: The Isaac Foundation for Children with Autism: PO Box 19202, Spokane 99219 and the Toni Marie’s Fund at Providence of Spokane, Joyce Cameron, contact.
