Obituary: Mclean, Eldon “Duff”

Age 94

McLEAN, Eldon “Duff” (Age 94) Eldon “Duff” McLean of Post Falls died at his home on January 9th, 2015.

He was born in Santa, Idaho on September 18th, 1920 to Monroe and Lorina McLean, the youngest of nine children.

Duff worked hard all of his life starting at a young age.

He worked in the logging industry and was a Deputy Sheriff in the St. Maries area.

He served in the U.S. Army in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division in France and Germany.

He worked at Kaiser Aluminum and retired after 25 years there.

Duff lived most of his life in Post Falls, Idaho.

He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Duff married his first wife Dorothy Marie Robinson on June 7th, 1940 and she preceded him in death on December 22,1977.

He was also preceded in death by his infant son Jimmy and all eight siblings.

Duff is survived by his wife Violet and four step children including: John and Pauline McLean, Wade and Wanda McLean, Tresia and David Mallery and Erma and Bob Straw, all of Post Falls, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by one nephew, Daryl Reames of Spokane Valley, WA and three nieces, Marilyn Blossom of Spokane, WA, Lois Williams of Chattaroy, WA, and Marie Barton of Husum, WA.

His stories of his many lifetime adventures will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at Yates Funeral Home, 744 North 4th St. Coeur d’Alene on Thursday January 15, 2015 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at Yates Funeral Home, 744 North 4th St. Coeur d’ Alene on Friday January 16, 2015 at 10:00 am.

The graveside service will take place on January 16, 2015 at 1:30pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries, ID 23rd and State Hwy 5, St. Maries, ID.

A Memorial gathering to Celebrate Duff’s Life will be held at a later date this summer.
