Obituary: Lacounte, William S. “Bill”

Age 72

LaCOUNTE, William S. “Bill” October 8, 1942- December 19, 2014 Bill passed away on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at North Idaho Hospice House after battling lung cancer and COPD.

He graduated high school from Lewis and Clark in Spokane, WA, and later attended and graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor’s in Math and Master’s degree in Computer Science.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years earning the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Merit Medal.

He enjoyed attending his kids’ high school sporting and music events and many others of their extra-curricular activities.

His career was in technology and over the many years he worked for Ames Research/NASA, IBM, Control Data, University of Washington, Motorola, and then later retired from the University of Puget Sound.

After retiring he moved permanently to his family vacation home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to enjoy the wonderful views of the lake.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Jennifer LaCounte (Bart Mickelson), of Burien, WA; Joanna Day (Ken), of Mill Creek, WA.

; brother Max LaCounte (Stephanie Storms), of Sonoma, CA; longtime special friend Karen Hart; grandchildren: Ken Day, Jr. and Kristina Day; nephews, David LaCounte, Peter Nesbeitt (Ina), Ben Nesbeitt (Dolly), Mathieu LaCounte; and nieces, Lisa Hemmeter (Mark), Meagan Hagglund (Craig), Melissa Pfeiffer (Eric), Holly Nesbeitt (Petros Linardos), Crystal Anderson (Scott), and Tammy Reid (Jason); and many friends.

He loved his family, friends, and neighbors and enjoyed all the special moments he shared with them; he will be missed.
