Obituary: Rudy, Bertha Leona Edna

RUDY, Bertha Leona Edna (Age 98) Passed away December 8th, 2014 peacefully at her home in Chewelah Washington surrounded by family.

Bertha was the fourth of six children and was born to Charles and Molly Gilb on January 26th, 1916 in Lucan, Minnesota.

She married Loren Parker in 1934.

Their son Larry was born in 1935 and son Calvin in 1936.

They settled in McMinnville Oregon in 1942.

While there, Bertha earned her LPN degree.

Loren passed away in 1947.

Bertha and her two sons then moved to Grandview, Washington where she owned a restaurant.

In 1952 she married Floyd Jordan.

They moved to Spokane in 1962 where Bertha became an instructor at SCC in culinary arts until she retired in 1977.

Floyd and Bertha enjoyed fishing, huckleberry picking and supporting the Spokane Jets hockey team.

In 1979 they moved to Deer Park where Bertha returned to nursing at the Deer Park hospital for the next seven years.

Floyd and Bertha moved back to Spokane in 1986 and Floyd passed away in October of 1987.

In 1990 Bertha married Dr. Peter Rudy.

They enjoyed their retirement years traveling and spending time with their families.

Dr. Rudy passed away in 1998.

Bertha then moved to Chewelah, Washington to be close to her son, Larry.

She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend.

Family was very important to Bertha.

She always kept in close contact with all of her family and friends.

Bertha is survived by her son Larry (Joanne) of Chewelah, 8 grand- children, 5 step grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and five siblings, her son Calvin and husbands Loren, Floyd and Peter.

Bertha was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She was involved in missions and service works her whole life.

Some of the many activities she was involved in were crocheting baby blankets and hats, making quilts, baking treats to support missions or help other church members and providing support for students at Upper Columbia Academy and Colville Valley Seventh Day Adventist School.

Bertha loved serving her Lord and Savior.

She was a blessing to everyone she encountered and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2310 Sand Canyon Road, Chewelah Washington on Sunday, January 11th at 10am.

Interment was held at Fairmount Memorial Park, Spokane on December 29th.
