Obituary: Papst, Jane Francis

Age 87

PAPST, Jane Francis Jane Francis (Simon) Papst slipped into the arms of her Savior on December 27, 2014, after a long illness.

She was born May 31, 1927, to Leo P. and Anna H. Simon, the eighth of 10 children.

The family lived in Cottonwood, ID, and later moved to the Tri-Cities, WA, where she graduated from Pasco High School in 1946.

Working as a telephone operator for Pacific NW Bell, she met a tall, handsome lineman named Robert J. Papst.

They fell in love and were married June 30, 1948.

They moved to Spokane where their family increased by three - Karen in 1951, Steve in 1953, and Greg in 1958.

Jane enjoyed reading, crafts and needlework, picking huckleberries and mushrooms at the family cabin, trips to Alaska and Hawaii, collecting antiques, and watching old “Maverick” reruns.

She was a wonderful cook, and she always remembered birthdays and anniversaries.

A faithful member of Fourth Memorial Church for many years, Jane also volunteered at both the Union Gospel Mission and Northwest Christian School.

She is preceded in death by her son, Greg; her parents; and siblings Helen, Beatrise, Ernest, Omer, Dorothy, Arnold, and Ray.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Karen (Doug) Vines in Moses Lake; son, Steve (Jean) in Colville; daughter-in-law, Kari (Greg) in Spokane; grandchildren Amy, Sarah, Venke, Gunnar, Anna, Ilse, and Inga; great-grandchildren Colin and Celia; sister Maryann of Pasco, brother Don (Donna) of Post Falls and sister-in-law Lenora of CdA.

At Jane’s request, there will be no service.

Memorials may be made to UGM.
