Obituary: Holliday, Ralph K.

Age 73

HOLLIDAY, Ralph K. The Lord graciously took Ralph Holliday home on December 18, 2014 after a devastating encounter with Stevens - Johnson Syn-drome.

He was born on October 3, 1941 to Alice (Sooy) and Homer Holliday.

Ralph spent his early childhood in the Cheney area until the family moved to Deer Park for his fifth grade school year.

It was in Deer Park where he would commit his life to Jesus Christ, develop lifelong friendships, meet the love of his life, and start his career.

While working for Joann’s parents on the family farm during his teen and early adult years, Ralph found satisfaction in hard work and gained firsthand experience with the business of agriculture.

Ralph also loved sports.

His best was baseball.

He pitched with a side arm delivery that produced a good fastball and a roundhouse curveball.

His delivery combined with a bit of wildness kept hitters on their toes.

During his senior season it all came together and he pitched a no-hitter against Medical Lake.

After graduating from Deer Park High School in 1960, Ralph attended and graduated from Kinman’s Business College while continuing to work on the Jurgens’ family farm.

In 1962 Ralph started working for National Bank of Commerce as a teller.

After dating from the ages of 15 and 14, Ralph and Joann were married on October 12, 1962.

Their 52-years of married life were a true adventure blessed by God and filled with love and laughter.

They moved 19 times for a banking career in which Ralph would earn his way from teller to Chief Executive Officer.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Joann; brothers, Curtis (Sandy) and Brian (Becky); sons, Keith (Joni) and Brian (Heather); and four wonderful grandchildren (Katie, Ryan, Jared, and Mitchell).

Ralph loved family, not only his wife, kids, and grandkids, but his parents, parents-in-law, brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His hugs and kind encouraging words of wisdom will be sorely missed.

Ralph’s love and devotion to his wife and family was a testimony of the Lord every day of his life.

The Lord blessed us with him for 73 wonderful years.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Northview Bible Church, 13521 N. Mill Rd., Spokane, Washington on January 10, 2015 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in Ralph’s memory to Life Services of Spokane (http://www.lifeservices.org/) or the Stevens - Johnson Syndrome Foundation (http://sjsupport.org/).
