Obituary: Haglund, Ruth Wanda

HAGLUND, Ruth Wanda (Olson) (Age 88) Ruth passed away peacefully on December 23, 2014 in Spokane with her family at her side.

She was well known and highly regarded by all who knew her for her faithfulness, generosity, and kindness.

She was born January 21, 1926 in Spokane to John and Helen Olson.

She was the seventh of eight siblings.

After graduating from Rogers High School in 1943, she married Robert Andrew Haglund in 1946.

From 1960-1965 she worked at Arthur D. Jones as a book- keeper.

Goodale & Barbieri acquired that firm, and Ruth continued with them until 1988 when she retired as office manager.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, her parents, three brothers (Leonard, Charles and Raymond), three sisters (Margaret Rees, Mary Watkins, and Jean Smith), one son (Raymond), and one grandson (Caleb).

She is survived by one sister, Anna May King of Spokane; three sons, Richard (Judy) of Nine Mile Falls; Randall (Lisa) of Spokane, and Rex of Cheney; and daughter-in-law Sue Haglund.

She is also survived by four grandchildren, Joshua, Emma, Grace, and Rebecca Haglund; a multitude of nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Susan Holden.

She was active in the community to the very end.

A member of Hillyard Baptist Church her entire life, she was also a secretary/ bookkeeper for Pillars Fellowship for most of 40 years, and an active member of the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees (NARVRE).

She was also a member of the Union Pacific Railroad Club #1, as well as being active at the Hillyard Senior Center, and the Golden Heirs of Hillyard Baptist Church.

An inspiration to all, Ruth never said an unkind word about anyone, and touched the lives of hundreds.

A memorial service will be held at Hillyard Baptist Church on January 10, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. All are invited to a gathering in the fellowship hall afterward.

In lieu of flowers, Ruth would want memorial contributions to be made to Hillyard Baptist Church.
