Police: Suspect rams cruiser on Vashon; deputy shoots

VASHON ISLAND, Wash. – King County sheriff’s deputies said they have arrested a suspect who rammed a patrol car on Vashon Island, prompting a deputy to shoot.

The episode began Saturday evening when police received calls saying the suspect had been involved in a domestic violence incident with his mother, as well as a case of road rage, threats and vandalism.

A deputy saw the man driving in his pickup and chased him, but officials said the man rammed the deputy’s cruiser several times. The deputy, who was not injured, fired his gun. The suspect was not hit and drove away.

The Sheriff’s Office said deputies found the suspect hiding in a vacant home Sunday morning. They used a Taser to subdue him as he tried to run, and arrested him for investigation of assault and other charges.

The deputy who fired the shots has been placed on administrative leave.
