Gun safety for children

Regarding “Wal-Mart incident is second accidental shooting this year involving toddlers in Hayden” (Dec. 31 Web headline): The recent unfortunate incident at the Hayden Wal-Mart illustrates once again the need for cradle-to-grave gun awareness and training. Children can and must be taught safe gun-handling and loading/unloading/discharge technique from a very early age; the younger the better.

Until all citizens “from 1 to 92” (as the “Christmas Song” goes) carry firearms and use them responsibly, America will never be the great nation that our founding fathers envisioned.
