U.S. skier Mikaela Shiffrin eyes record 11th win as teenager

Even though she isn’t chasing them anymore, World Cup skiing records keep coming Mikaela Shiffrin’s way. In today’s race, the American can match the all-time best mark of 11 slalom wins as a teenager set by Perrine Pelen of France in the 1980s, and Shiffrin will get two more chances – in Flachau, Austria, next week, and Maribor, Slovenia, in February – before turning 20 in March. However, Shiffrin has decided not to keep a close look at the record books anymore. “What’s the point if I am trying to win and I am not winning, then obviously that’s not fun,” Shiffrin said. “So I’d rather try to ski well, then ski well and see where that gets me.” – Associated Press
