Auditions

Northwest Sacred Music Chorale Auditions will be held Tuesday for Northwest Sacred Music’s Chorale at the Community Presbyterian Church, 417 N. Henry St., Post Falls, at 6:30 p.m. Those interested in auditioning should come prepared with a song, including music. Sumi-e with Keiko – Fun with the Brush: Beginning and advanced students can learn Asian-style ink painting during this six-week course, beginning Thursday. Classes are Thursday mornings at the Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St. from 10 a.m.-noon, or Thursday evenings at Hobby Lobby, 13902 E. Colfax Library The art show committee invites artists ages 12-19 to submit an art project. Entries may include paintings, drawings, pottery or collage. All submissions need to be accompanied by name, age, grade, school and a short paragraph explaining the entry mounted on black tag board. Entries will be accepted at Colfax Library on Jan. 9. 2015 Pend Oreille Valley Lavender Festival Poster Contest The Pend Oreille Valley Lavender Festival is holding a poster contest for artists. The winning artist will receive $300 commission and will be featured in the Festival Artist booth at the 2015 festival. Submissions are due by Feb. 12. Spokane Arts Fund The Spokane Arts Fund, in partnership with the Gold Star Families, the City of Spokane and the Spokane Public Facilities District, is looking for an artist or artist team to create a memorial honoring fallen heroes who have served post-9/11 for the south side of the Spokane Arena. Spokane Arts Commission The Spokane Arts Commission is accepting applications to fill six vacancies beginning in January. Arts commissioner responsibilities consist of a three-year term and attendance to commission meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month. In addition, each commissioner has the opportunity to sit on committees designated for specific projects. Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission The Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission is seeking artists for a piece of artwork to recognize the culture and history of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe to be installed along the Centennial Trail in the Education Corridor. Spokane Arts Spokane Arts is seeking visual artists for a juried group exhibition at the Chase Gallery, City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., from July 1-Sept. 29. Artwork will be considered from artists from northern Idaho, Eastern Washington and western Montana. Entry deadline is Jan. 16. Up to three images may be submitted. Coeur d’Alene Art Grant Program Three-year pilot program of the City of Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission seeks to widen arts and cultural participation and its expression. Program provides support from $500 up to $1,000 for projects, opportunities and events proposed by individuals, groups, organizations or communities of interest that offer a potential arts or cultural impact within the city of Coeur d’Alene. Idaho Commission for Libraries The Idaho Commission for Libraries and the Library of Congress Center for the Book is seeking submissions from students in grades 4-12 for their Letters about Literature competition. Students are invited to write a letter about their favorite author and explain how his or her work has changed the student’s perspective on the world. The contest has three competition levels: Level 1 for students in grades 4-6; Level 2 for students in grades 7-8; and Level 3 for students in grades 9-12.
