1. D. The Friends of Indian Canyon say the condition of the 80-year-old course has been in decline for years and asked the board to form a public-private partnership to renovate the course that was once home to the United States Golf Association and PGA Tour events.

2. B. Fagan sparked controversy recently when he posted messages to his Facebook page questioning the safety of vaccines – three days after the Spokane Regional Health District asked members of the public to make sure they are up-to-date on their measles vaccines. Spokane City Council President Ben Stuckart called on Fagan to resign from the health board.

3. E. Avista Utilities has begun the process of asking Washington regulators to approve higher electric and natural gas rates, with an effective date of January 2016. The Spokane-based utility said the higher rates are needed to pay for ongoing projects in Eastern Washington, which will cost about $375 million this year. The state Utilities and Transportation Commission has 11 months to consider Avista’s request and make a decision.

4. E. Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber announced his resignation on Friday amid mounting questions and investigations into his fiancée, who was accused of using her position as first lady to enrich herself and benefit private consulting clients.

5. D. NBC announced that it is suspending Brian Williams for misleading the public about his experiences covering the Iraq War. Williams apologized for saying he was in a helicopter that was hit by a grenade while covering the Iraq War in 2003. Instead, another helicopter flying ahead of his was hit, and some veterans involved in the mission called him out on it.
