Courtney Vandersloot signs long-term deal with Chicago
Former Gonzaga women’s basketball star Courtney Vandersloot signed a multiyear contract with the Chicago Sky, the team announced Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sky coach and general manager Pokey Chatman told the Chicago Tribune the team didn’t want to take a chance on losing the restricted free agent. “I think she can be part of our success moving forward. She wants to be in Chicago,” Chatman said. “Each year the team has grown and she has grown,” said Chatman, calling Vandersloot the quarterback of the team. Vandersloot, a three-time WCC player of the year with Gonzaga, missed part of last season to a knee sprain, but led the league in playoff assists with 58. She is currently playing in Poland and should return to the Sky in May. – Chicago Tribune
