HANSEN, Thomas J. M.D.

(Age 79) Thomas J. Hansen, MD was welcomed into Jesus’ arms on July 30, 2015, two days after his 60th wedding anniversary.

Born in Spokane, WA January 14, 1936 to Gertrude and Thor Hansen, Tom attended Willard Elementary, North Central High School, Whitworth College and University of Washington School of Medicine.

Following his internship at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, he served two years as a captain in the US Air Force, stationed at Fairchild AFB.

After 46 years as a general practitioner in Spokane, Tom retired in 2011.

He was a brilliant physician who thrived on caring for each patient and taking time to get to know them on a personal level.

Tom loved spending time with his family and friends, enjoyed many great adventures, fishing and hunting, picking huckleberries and scouting for firewood at Priest Lake, ID and puttering around his orchard on Green Bluff.

Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, Charlene; his seven children and their spouses, Melodi (Ed) Kernkamp, Tim (Shelly) Hansen, Shelli (Marc) Schatz, Matt (Maggie) Hansen, Holly (Shaun) Jeffery, Todd (Dana) Hansen, and Aaron (Irene) Hansen; as well as 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers, Rod (Karen) and Daryl (Sue) Hansen and their families, as well as many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday August 15th at 1:00 pm, at Shiloh Hills Fellowship, 207 E. Lincoln Road, Spokane, with Pastor Ron Anderson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Horizon Hospice, the City Gate, or the Salvation Army.

A special thank you to Ray and Becky from Horizon Hospice for their excellent care and love.
