In brief: Man accused of sex offenses still missing after courtroom no-show

From Staff Reports

Authorities still are searching for a Spokane man who skipped a court hearing earlier this week on charges of child rape and child pornography.

Douglas Scyphers, 46, was last seen driving a family member’s white 1993 Jeep Cherokee with Washington license plates AOB6460, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. He’s described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 160 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to Scyphers’ arrest. He failed to appear in court Wednesday on charges of first-, second- and third-degree child rape, possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a minor. He may now face a charge for jumping bail.

Detectives are concerned there may be additional victims, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Anyone with information about Scyphers’ whereabouts is asked to tip off Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS or www.CrimeStoppersInlandNorthwest.org. Tipsters do not have to give their name to collect a cash reward.
