Obituary: Schroder, Ronald Dana Sr.

SCHRODER, Ronald Dana, Sr. (Age 80) A lifetime resident of Elk, Washington, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015 and joined the love of his life, Elsie, in their heavenly home.

He was the loving father, father-in-law, and brother of Ronald D. and Laurie Schroder Jr., Steven and Char Schroder, Tami and Steve Anderson, all of Elk, Washington, daughter-in-law Edna Schroder of Sacramento, and brother and sister-In-Law, Virgil and JeanettaTaylor of Elk, Washington.

Ron was the beloved Papa of 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Elsie Irene Hearn in 2010, his dear son Dale Eugene Schroder in 1992, parents Lloyd and Lelia Schroder, brothers and sisters Percy Schroder, Alice Schroder Motly, Paul Taylor, and Evelyn Taylor Theobald.

Ron was born on March 11, 1935 in Elk, Washington.

He graduated from Riverside High School as an all-around athlete.

He joined the Air National Guard along with all the men in his graduating class, in which he served for eight years before being honorably discharged.

He married his best friend Elsie on August 4, 1953 whom he was in union with until her death in 2010.

He was employed at Kaiser Aluminum as a maintenance mechanic in Mead, Washington until his retirement in 1985.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing, hunting, working in the woods and gardening.

Ron was a great handyman and was always ready to lend a helping hand rather it was in the kitchen cooking and cleaning or carpentry work.

He was also a volunteer fireman for the Elk Fire Department.

He enjoyed coaching Little League and was a huge Mariners fan.

Ron and his wife Elsie were active servants of God at the Country Church of the Open Bible, serving in the youth meal and hospitality programs.

Ron was a church board elder who served as an usher and Sunday morning greeter.

Funeral services celebrating Ron Schroder’s life will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Country Church of the Open Bible, followed by an interment in Elk Cemetery #1.

A reception for all friends and family will be held at the church following the services.

Ron’s family suggest memorial contributions to the Country Church youth program or Horizon Hospice.
