Free health clinic continues today at Spokane County fairgrounds

From staff reports
A free health and dental clinic continues today at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Medical professionals will be on hand to render services such as cataract surgery, infectious disease screening and full dental care. No insurance or identification is required. The Your Best Pathway to Health event is being co-sponsored by Spokane County, the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the City of Spokane. More than 1,000 volunteers are on hand to assist patients, who will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Rich Hartzell, director of the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, said the county paid about $12,000 to put on the clinic, which ends today. “We’ve been working hand-in-hand with the city folks to make this thing happen,” he said. Those wishing to attain services should arrive well before 4 p.m. today, because volunteers will be limiting the line length so that the event can finish before the scheduled Northwest/Pioneer League All-Star Game gets underway at adjacent Avista Stadium. Gates for that event open at 4:30 p.m. “Right now there’s no line outside to get in,” Hartzell said Tuesday morning. “Right now they’re handling the numbers really well.” For more information on the clinic, visit the Pathway to Health website.
