Thank you, Mr. President
If President Obama were to cure the common cold, I believe his opponents would denounce him for killing the cold care industry. Disagreeing with any president is our democratic right. But the incessant scorn and resistance by his opposition say more about them than it does him.
No other country hurt by the Great Recession has emerged as strongly as we have. Six years ago, could you have imagined our robust auto industry? The number of homeless vets has gone down every year for four years. Millions of people without health care now have access. Oil consumption is down. Total emissions of the most common pollutants are dropping. Thank you, Mr. President.
In the summer of 2008, it was published that we would have trillion-dollar annual deficits for years, regardless of whether Obama or McCain won the presidency. The impact of unfunded wars, huge “temporary” tax cuts and the unfunded Medicare drug benefit – together with the economic collapse – guaranteed it.
Six years later, the annual deficit has gone steadily downward to half that amount. Thank you, Mr. President.
Negativity hurts us. We have a profoundly caring president with outstanding family values. It’s time we came together and gave thanks.
